Tom Harwood - Relationship Manager
After showing a keen interested in many different sports, dad took me along to Biggleswade Rugby Club aged 7 where my love for rugby, and sport in general, started. After quickly realising I was never going to grace the haloed Twickenham crowd with 'God Save the Queen', I started coaching and refereeing rugby.
I coached a mixture of ages and ran a year 3 & 4 tag rugby club for three years. This led to completing many other sporting qualifications to broaden my horizons. Most notably my FA Level 1, where I comically fell over whilst demonstrating the 'Cruyff Turn' (do as I say, not as I do…).
I attended Leeds Metropolitan University and graduated with a Sports Development degree. I started working for teamBEDS&LUTON in June 2012 after carrying out a placement with the team whilst at university. I have delivered a successful volunteering programme, Run Leaders and Get Back Into projects. I have also managed the Sportivate programme until March 2017, a national funding programme designed to get more young people active. I now work on Satellite Clubs, impact assessment, insight and marketing.
Other interests include music, playing instruments, painting pictures and occasionally cooking. I am also a keen Bedfordshire Young Farmer, where I am currently vice-chair of the county organisation.
