Since Sport England published its new strategy, Towards an Active Nation, they have been doing a lot of detailed work to develop their new funding programmes.

They have now explained when funding will become available and when you can download detailed information about how you can apply for funding or other advice and help. https://www.sportengland.org/funding/new-funding-when-to-apply/

The guidance has been provided for each of their investment funds, so you know where to look in their strategy for more information.

Many of Bedfordshire's clubs and community organisation's will be keen to know more about the Community Asset Fund, as this replaces the now defunct Inspired Facilities and Protecting playing Fields Funds. Sport England's published guidance on this fund is as follows:

'The places where people play sport have a really big impact on a person's experience and likelihood they will come back regularly. That's why we're continuing to invest in all types of facilities, especially multi-sport for our major strategic investments.

In December 2016, we will:

  • Launch the first phase of our new Community Asset Fund. If you're an organisation looking to take over sports facilities, a sports club that wants to expand or you have a great idea for a project that's clearly needed in the local community, then this could be the fund for you. £7.5 million will be available for single and multi-sport community facilities in this phase.

Based on similar projects we've already supported, we expect to make awards of between £5,000 and £150,000. You'll be able to submit your bids from the beginning of January 2017. We plan to make the first awards from April 2017 onwards.

It might be that your facilities project is already right for one of our open funding programmes, like our Strategic Facilities Fund. Find out more via ww.sportengland.org/funding/

In January 2017, we will:

  • Publish our wider facilities investment guide, giving partners more information on the type of projects we're looking to support, the people we want to benefit and the outcomes we're seeking to achieve.'

The information here will be updated regularly by Sport England via their website. We will also be providing via our website, twitter and face book feeds. We will be keen to know what the eligibility criteria and key features of the fund will be when its launched and we will make sure that this is shared with those organisation's that have potential or developing projects for funding.

If you would like to know more or talk through any plans and ideas that you may have then please do not hesitate to get in touch with Graham Simpson on 01582 813760 or graham@teambedsandluton.co.uk
