BLOG: "I was teetering on the edge of a full McEnroe style meltdown."

It's the eve of the Workplace Challenge ladies golf tournament and I've just got home after getting in a bit of last minute practice. All I can say is I'm hanging to the hope that today was me just getting my bad shots out of the way…a girl can dream right? Out on the driving range, I was hitting well…too well it turns out as I persisted to send my ball flying straight over the green time and time again, one even made it out onto the road. I was teetering on the edge of a full McEnroe style melt down but somehow I managed to keep my cool. I wish there was a happy ending and I could write about how I refocused my mind and turned my game around, but this isn't a fairytale and unfortunately I continued in much the same fashion, just with a little less rage.
I have mixed feelings about the tournament tomorrow and not just based on my current form. As my team mates and I made our way on to the freshly cut Colmworth Par 3 for our final training session it was with an air of excitement and sadness. We've watched each other transform from hapless newbies to pretty competent golfers and we have laughed…a lot. I will miss our fun filled Thursday evenings out on the course and so will the rest of the team it seems as our club house conversation centred around whether or not we should sign up to the Get Back Into course. Any doubts I had were diminished at Adie's promise of teaching me to use a driver…how could I possibly pass up on that!
So it looks as though my golfing adventure is set to continue, here's hoping that the first instalment ends in victory.
