Time to Taper!

After months and months of training and covering 465 miles to date the final 20 mile long run was completed on Sunday at Oakley. I had the pleasure of being kept company by the Ampthill and Flitwick Flyers Running Club Chairman, Paul Owen who also kept me true to my plan so I could finish the last 4 miles strong and in a good place. I was so looking forward to finishing the last 20 mile run but now I have I feel somewhat strange and deflated. It is daunting to think that the 'big one' aka London Marathon is less than 3 weeks away and already the doubts are setting in; Have I done enough? Will I make the last 6.2 miles? Have I ran the 20 milers quick enough? I guess time will tell and I will find out on the day. It is now time to taper and start reducing the mileage slightly. It is also important for me to eat well, hydrate correctly and get enough rest. It seriously has felt like I have had a second full time job with all this training. I can openly and honestly say this will be my last one...well for a while anyway.
